Edward, by the grace of God King of England, Lord of Ireland and Duke of Aquitaine, to the Archbishops, Bishops, Abbots, Priors, Earls, Barons, Justiciars, Sheriffs, Reeves, Ministers, and to all Bailiffs and to his faithful subjects, Greeting. Know ye that we, of our special grace, have granted and by this our charter have confirmed to our beloved burgesses of our town of Helston, in the County of Cornwall, that they, their heirs and successors for ever, shall hold one market every week, throughout the day of Saturday, at the said town, and four fairs there every year, one, that is to say, lasting through three days, namely, on the vigil, the day, and the morrow of the Apostles Simon and Jude, one other fair there lasting for three days, namely, on the vigil, the day, and the morrow of Palm Sunday, a third fair there lasting for three days, namely, on the vigil, the day, and the morrow of Saints Ciricius and Julitta, and a fourth fair there lasting for three days, namely, on the vigil, the day, and the morrow of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, provided that this market and these fairs be not to the detriment of neighbouring markets and neighbouring fairs. Wherefore we will and firmly command, for us and our heirs, that the said burgesses, their heirs and successors for ever, hold the said market and fairs at the said town with all the liberties and free customs belonging to such market and fairs, provided that this market and these fairs be not to the detriment of neighbouring markets and neighbouring fairs, as is aforesaid These are the witnesses: The venerable Fathers J.
